The Project

With help from researchers at the University of Texas at Austin School of Information, 100 years of Central State Hospital’s records—nearly 1 million pages of historical documents (including photographs, annual reports, registers, and board meeting minutes)—have been digitized. The last, and most challenging, leg of the project: creating an online digital library while protecting private information of the patients.

Preserving Central State Hospital's treasure trove of historical data are experts in digitization, archival preservation, and law.
